Generation of photovoltaic solar energy in Spain (GWh)
Since 2010, solar photovoltaic generation in Spain has grown steadily, reaching a new all-time high of 50,188 GWh in 2025, 12.5% more than the previous year. As of June 2026, the installed photovoltaic self-consumption capacity is around 9.3 GW. Looking at the new capacity added in 2025, the industrial sector accounts for nearly 60%, the residential sector around 20%, the commercial sector 15%, and off-grid installations the remaining 5%.
How does a Photovoltaic solar kit work?
A photovoltaic solar energy system with batteries for self-consumption harnesses sunlight through solar panels. These panels convert solar energy into electricity that can be used immediately or stored in batteries for later use.
Its advantages include: savings on electricity bills by offsetting grid energy consumption, energy independence by being able to use solar energy even during power outages or at night, and environmental contribution by utilizing renewable energy.
